List of Tech Hubs in Ibadan; what they Offer and how you can benefit from them

Technology is fast growing in Ibadan, so also are the Tech and Innovation Hubs bringing about the growth. The city of Ibadan in recent time has experience an up-shift in innovation and tech advancement, thanks to all the investors and innovators who are continually throwing weights of effort and capital into technology in Ibadan. But how aware are the people of Ibadan about these Hubs across the city? How informed are they about the benefits of these Hubs and what they offer? How effectively are they maximizing them? Report shows that most of the Hubs presently have considerable amount of patronage, but not at the level it ought to be when compared to the number of technocrats and tech enthusiasts in the city.

1. Wennovation Hub

When you think of ‘i’nnovation think of ‘we’nnovation. Located at 3rd floor, Alpha & Omega Building, Queen Elizabeth Road II, Mokola Ibadan, Wennovation hub started operation in 2011 and has been consistent in it’s vision, “to achieve sustainable development in Africa by fostering innovation among the youth population”. The Hub has helped a fair number of innovators across the country to bring about the fulfillment of their ideas and they continue to welcome other innovators who are willing to pitch their ideas with them.

“We have supported over 300 startup teams and well over 6000 youths physically with as much as $2.5 million raised by startups within our network and over $66M raised as follow-on funding by startups within our founders’ network.”

2. LPI Innovation Hub:

LPI Innovation Hub is operated by the Linux Professional Institute Nigeria MA (LPI Nigeria), the hub is located at Appleton Road (Tech. Road), University of Ibadan. Yes! Inside the University of Ibadan. LPI Hub is a multidisciplinary hub and commenced activities in November 2017 and since then the hub continues to experience an exponential growth in its operations within the city. Young innovators have been pitching their ideas with them and have been receiving support from the hub.

“We are dissatisfied with the status quo, and seek to contribute to driving the demand for inventions and innovation, and so, prepare for the new frontier. The LPI Innovation Hub is a space for creation and innovation. We work to solve the biggest pain points in different areas of our community from tech to business… We house creators and developers, designers and artists, techies and scientists, architects and researchers.”

3. ALF Tech Hub:

ALF Tech Hub is an initiative of Africa Leadership Forum. Located at Old SDSTC (Oyo Oodua Skill Acquisition Centre Premises), Samonda, UI Road, Ibadan, the Hub supports new generation of Nigeria digital entrepreneurs, to develop innovative solutions and business models. ALF Tech Hub focus on everything technology and are always willing to help develop your innovations.

4.iBridge Hub

Located at Nustreams Conference and Culture Centre, Km 110, Abeokuta Road, Off Alalubosa GRA, Ibadan, iBridge Hub started operation in October 1st 2012 and has since then been one of the major tech influence in the city of Ibadan. Like other hubs, Innovators can pitch their ideas with them and have access to sponsors and partnership. 5. Ecco Hub

Ecco Hub is another Hub you want to check out, located at 11 Okunola Abbass, Off Oluyole Road, New Bodija, Ibadan. The hub started operations on 15th July, 2016 providing space and resources for startups and entrepreneurs across the city. 6. SteinServe Hub

SteinServe Hub is the newest Hub in the city of Ibadan with loads of promising features. Launched August, 2018 SteinServe Hub operates as a three-fold-purpose establishment:  Firstly, a hub where technocrats can book work space, secondly, as an innovation and incubation center, and thirdly, as a Virtual Learning Center where tech lovers can learn the most recent and in-demand tech skills from experts in Silicon Valley and Nigeria.
